Today, January 23rd 2025, marks a historic day for civil rights in Thailand as the new marriage equality law finally comes into effect. This groundbreaking legislation, passed by Parliament in June 2024 with overwhelming support, represents a fundamental societal milestone achieved through decades of struggle and thanks to the efforts of countless activists and civil rights advocates.
