A Love Story Across Time Zones: Katie & Steve's Phuket Wedding

Katie and Steve, a couple from Ohio, USA, chose Thailand for their wedding not only for its beauty but also for its sentimental significance. By getting married at noon in Phuket, their anniversary will always coincide with New Year’s Eve in Ohio—so every time they welcome a new year, they’ll also be celebrating their marriage.

Their wedding at The Boathouse Phuket was a vibrant celebration of their personalities. They embraced bold colors, with tropical flowers—like bird of paradise and orchids—transforming the venue into a lush paradise. Katie’s flower arch and bouquet reflected the lively atmosphere, as did the bright pink dress worn by their officiant, Kelsey, who is also Katie’s sister-in-law.

Planning from afar, Katie worked with the Phuket Romance team to bring her vision to life. On the big day, she walked down the aisle with her father, while their closest family and friends, including Katie’s son Ryder as ring bearer, gathered on the terrace overlooking the Andaman Sea.

After the ceremony, the couple took portraits on Karon Beach, where the turquoise sea and soft sand provided the perfect backdrop. Beachgoers joined in the applause as they celebrated. The reception featured a mix of Thai and Western dishes, ending on a sweet note with a blood orange and almond wedding cake paired with sherbet.

Katie and Steve extended their honeymoon in Thailand, visiting Bangkok and Pattaya before continuing to Vietnam. Back in the USA, they’ll celebrate once more with a reception for family and friends.

Phuket Romance was honored to be part of their journey, helping create a wedding as unforgettable as their love story.
