10 Questions

Could you tell us about your hometown and any other places that hold a place in your heart?

I am originally from a small island called Cape Cod in MA., USA, but I have been living in Thailand since 2009 so Phuket is where I call home!

When did you first move to Phuket and why?

2009 is when I made the full time move to Phuket although I was spending the winters in Phuket for the years 2007-2008 before making the full time move. Why? Well, it's a long story, but let's just say I fell in love with the country, its people, the food, the freedom and the national sport of Muay Thai.

What inspired your choice of becoming a wedding photographer?

I love chaos, one reason that I fell in love with Thailand was its organized chaos that exists. I started off as a combat sport photographer and videographer but it didn't really pay the bills. I had a friend who was a wedding photographer and she invited me to help her. Once I saw the market and the very same chaos that combat sports photography offered, I knew this was my calling. Love at first “click” you can say!

What is your favorite moment to capture during a wedding?

I love taking portraits of the bride just before she makes her way down the aisle, the quiet before the storm they say, the bride is always GLOWING with excitement! There is literally no other time in most girls' lives that they will feel this way or look this way, so needless to say it's a special experience to capture this moment.

Is there any photographer or artist who greatly influenced your style?

Not anyone in particular but I LOVE really good photojournalists, storytellers and street photographers. I used to really enjoy looking through the National Geographic Magazines and seeing photographers immerse themselves into different cultures, lands and animals.

What camera do you prefer to use?

Sony A series cameras are the best on the market, it's really amazing how far their tech has come in the past 10 years.

Do you have any favorite wedding venues in Phuket that you love to shoot at?

I prefer private villas because I can cover more ground and details in the allotted time that I have. Some big resorts are beautiful but getting around from bride's room to groom’s room to ceremony and dinner can be a stressful and timely process.

Can you recall a particularly memorable or special wedding you have photographed?

No, they are all special and memorable to me!

If you could go back to any time in history, what famous wedding would you like to photograph?

Princess Dianna’s wedding for sure!

Lastly, what advice would you give to couples when preparing for their wedding day?

The more you stress the less enjoyable it will be for everyone. Stay calm and enjoy the moment. Even if things are not going according to plan, think about the bigger picture: why are you there? Forget about the color of the napkins and go get married!
