10 Questions

Could you tell us about your hometown and any other places that hold a place in your heart?

I'm originally from Trang, a place known for its friendly people, great food, and beautiful nature. I visit often since my family still lives there, though I'm currently based in Phuket.

When did you first move to Phuket and why?

I moved to Phuket many years ago after graduating in Mass Communications from a university in Bangkok. Photography was always a hobby of mine, and I initially wanted to pursue photojournalism. However, I didn’t feel like staying in Bangkok, so my sister, who was already in Phuket, suggested I move here. I wasn’t sure what kind of job I would find, but I ended up working as a bell attendant at what is now known as Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach.

What inspired your choice of becoming a wedding photographer?

After working at the hotel for three years, I got to know a photographer who often visited for wedding shoots. That’s when I realized that photography could actually be more than just a hobby—it could be my career. I saw an opportunity, so I left my hotel job to work at P Media Studio, a wedding studio in Phuket Town. There, I primarily photographed Thai couples and learned valuable skills like videography and video editing. The studio also did event organizing, which helped me connect with many businesses and hotels. Since there weren’t many freelance photographers in Phuket at the time, I decided to start my own business, working with various resorts and hotels. That’s how I began to establish myself as a wedding photographer and started getting introduced to international clients.

What is your favorite moment to capture during a wedding?

There's no single moment that stands out, but what I love most about being a wedding photographer is capturing the genuine emotions throughout the day. I get to witness the pure happiness, smiles, and laughter shared between couples, their families, and friends. It’s those candid, heartfelt moments that make each wedding unique. Whether it’s a tear during the vows, a joyful embrace, or laughter on the dance floor, those small, emotional moments are what I truly enjoy preserving for the couple to cherish forever.

Is there any photographer or artist who greatly influenced your style?

Two photographers have greatly influenced my style. First, Oat Chaiyasith, one of the top wedding photojournalists, who is known for his exceptional candid photography. His ability to capture raw, unposed moments has really inspired me, as I love the authenticity that comes with this style.

I’m also influenced by José Villa, whose clean, romantic aesthetic has made him a master in the industry. His work has a timeless elegance that I admire, and I often look to his attention to detail when it comes to lighting and composition. Both photographers have shaped my approach, and I blend elements of their styles—Oat’s candid, documentary feel with José's soft, romantic touch—into my own work.

What camera do you prefer to use?

I actually started with Nikon, but when I began working professionally as a photographer, I switched to Canon. At the time, Nikon didn’t have a service center in Thailand—it was only available in Japan—so managing repairs and maintenance was difficult. Canon, on the other hand, had a service center in Bangkok, which made it much easier to handle any issues.

Nowadays, many photographers are switching to Sony, but I decided to keep working with Canon because it’s worked really well for me over the years. I also have a sentimental connection to all the cameras I’ve owned. I’ve kept each one because they’ve all played a role in shaping my career, and they remind me of the journey I’ve taken as a photographer. It’s a keepsake that I’m proud of, reflecting how far I’ve come.

Do you have any favorite wedding venues in Phuket that you love to shoot at?

One of my favorite wedding venues in Phuket is Jivana on Natai Beach, just across the bridge from Phuket. It’s an absolutely stunning beachfront villa that offers a beautiful backdrop for weddings. The venue has ample space, which allows for a variety of setups, and there are numerous picturesque spots perfect for capturing photos.

What I love most about Jivana is its tranquility; even for slightly larger weddings, it doesn’t feel crowded, which helps create a more intimate atmosphere. The combination of the gorgeous beachfront, spacious grounds, and serene environment makes it an ideal place for couples looking to create memorable moments that I can capture beautifully.

Can you recall a particularly memorable or special wedding you have photographed?

One memorable wedding I photographed involved a bit of unexpected drama when the groom fainted during the ceremony after being in his tuxedo for too long in the hot weather. The bride was understandably worried, and guests were concerned. Thankfully, he recovered quickly, and the ceremony continued.

What stood out was how everyone rallied around the couple, turning the day into one of joy and relief. I captured beautiful moments of laughter and love, reminding me that sometimes the unexpected can create the most memorable experiences.

If you could go back to any time in history, what famous wedding would you like to photograph?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I recently watched the Netflix series about them, and their journey is incredibly fascinating. It takes immense courage to leave behind a life of privilege for a more 'normal' existence. Their wedding was not just a grand event but also a significant cultural moment. Capturing the emotions and challenges of that day would have been an unforgettable experience.

Lastly, what advice would you give to couples when preparing for their wedding day?

My advice to couples is to start planning at least six months in advance, but avoid stretching it to two years, as that can become overwhelming. Begin by finding a wedding planner you feel a connection with; they can guide you in choosing the right venue and vendors.

Remember, you don’t have to do everything yourself. Relying on your planner and vendors can help reduce stress, allowing you to enjoy your big day. Trusting your team will ensure that everything runs smoothly, so you can focus on capturing those beautiful moments together.
