10 Questions

Could you tell us about your hometown and any other places that hold a place in your heart?

As a makeup artist, I take pride in my roots, and my hometown of Trang plays a big part in that. Trang is a peaceful and charming, known for its natural beauty. Growing up surrounded by such serene landscapes has inspired my approach to makeup, where I aim to bring out a natural, effortless beauty in my clients.

Another place that holds a special place in my heart is Phuket. It’s where I’ve had the opportunity to work with many amazing clients, especially in the destination wedding industry. The vibrant, multicultural energy here inspires my creativity, and I feel lucky to be part of such a dynamic and colorful scene.

When did you first move to Phuket and why?

I first moved to Phuket over 15 years ago to further my studies while I was still in college. During that time, I began working part-time as a makeup artist. Phuket's vibrant hospitality industry and the international atmosphere allowed me to develop my skills and grow my network. What started as a part-time passion quickly turned into a full-time career, and the diversity of clients here helped shape me into the artist I am today.

What inspired your choice of becoming a Hair & Makeup artist?

My inspiration to become a makeup artist began with my love for cosmetics. From an early age, I was drawn to the transformative power of makeup. I wanted to make other women feel beautiful in their own unique way. I loved the process of applying makeup, and when I started doing it for friends, seeing their happiness and confidence light up when they looked in the mirror filled my heart with joy.

That’s when I realized I wanted to develop myself further in this profession. It wasn't just about applying makeup; it was about creating something that made people feel amazing. When I started doing bridal makeup, that feeling of fulfillment only deepened. A bride’s wedding day is one of the most important days of her life, and to be part of her journey, crafting the perfect look that makes her feel the most beautiful she’s ever felt, is a special honor. It’s more than just makeup—it's creating a lasting memory of joy and beauty.

How would you describe your beauty philosophy in one sentence?

I believe that every woman already possesses her own unique beauty. My role is simply to enhance that beauty, highlighting her natural features and personality. It’s not about changing someone but bringing out what makes them truly special. I always say, "Beauty is the charm of a woman," and as a makeup artist, my goal is to elevate that charm in a way that makes her feel confident, radiant, and herself.

Are there any hair and makeup icons or artists who have influenced your style and approach?

I’d say I’ve never really followed anyone in particular. I’ve always enjoyed creating makeup looks in my own way, staying true to my style while keeping up with general trends. My inspiration comes from the process of working with each individual’s unique features rather than following a specific artist. It’s about crafting a look that complements the person in front of me, blending creativity with current trends to make them feel beautiful.

Can you describe one of your favorite bridal looks you've created?

My favorite bridal makeup look is the natural one. I love creating a look that enhances the bride’s best features and softly highlights her natural beauty while concealing any imperfections. I’m particularly drawn to brown tones because they have a timeless appeal—no matter how trends change or how old you are, this look never goes out of style. When the bride looks back at her wedding photos, she’ll see a classic, beautiful version of herself, a look that remains unforgettable and forever cherished.

What is the most challenging part of your work?

The most challenging part of my work is meeting brides from various nationalities, each with different makeup trends and unique skin tones. Every bride has her own preferences and cultural influences when it comes to beauty, so I have to continuously learn and adapt to stay current with different trends. It can be challenging because what I may excel at might not be exactly what a particular bride envisions for her special day. That’s why I constantly update my skills and knowledge to cover a wide range of makeup styles, ensuring I’m ready to deliver exactly what each bride desires, no matter her background or style preferences.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest fashion trends?

I stay up-to-date with the latest fashion and makeup trends primarily through social media. Platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube are great sources of inspiration and allow me to see what’s trending globally. I follow makeup artists, fashion influencers, and beauty brands to keep an eye on new techniques, products, and looks.

Can you share one or two of your must-have beauty products that you always have in your kit?

I can’t live without and really love the brands Dior and Chanel. I appreciate that they consistently offer quality in every product. I believe in their formulations and the way they perform, which is crucial when working with clients. Their foundations, lipsticks, and skincare products not only provide excellent results but also make the application process enjoyable. Having these brands in my kit gives me confidence that I’m using the best to help my clients look and feel beautiful.

What advice do you give to brides when choosing their wedding day hair and makeup?

My advice to brides is to start by exploring a variety of hairstyles that resonate with them, along with any accessories they wish to incorporate. It’s essential to consider what styles make them feel confident and beautiful.

Next, I recommend trending their favorite makeup styles—whether that’s a natural look or something more glamorous—so we can discuss these options together. The key is for brides to communicate openly with their makeup artist about their vision and preferences. As the artist, I can then work to enhance their features and create a look that elevates their confidence, ensuring they feel like the most beautiful version of themselves on their special day.
