10 Questions

Could you tell us about your hometown and any other places that hold a place in your heart?

Southeast Asia has been my home for the past two decades. My adventure began in the bustling streets of Ha Noi, Vietnam, and I still find myself drawn back to its charm. Later this year, I’m thrilled to return to photograph a friend’s wedding.

When did you first visit Phuket?

I visited Phuket in 2008 to check out the wedding venues. I was dazzled by its white sand beaches and vibrant nightlife! Fast forward to 2011 and I made Thailand my home.

What inspired your choice of becoming a wedding photographer?

I kicked off my career as a documentary photographer, capturing powerful moments for big NGOs and organizations like the United Nations. I discovered that I could bring my unique style and storytelling flair to weddings, and I've been loving it ever since.

What is your favorite moment to capture during a wedding?

The whole day is full of magical moments, each with its own unique charm. The moment when they’re pronounced husband and wife. They turn to face their guests, their faces beaming with joy is always unforgettable.

Is there any photographer or artist who greatly influenced your style?

Early in my career, I was inspired by the legendary photojournalist James Nachtwey. His work had a profound impact on my approach to photography. When it comes to weddings, I admire Fer Juaristi, the brilliant Mexican wedding photographer whose creativity is off the charts. I was also fortunate to start my journey in wedding photography with the amazing photojournalist Julian Wainwright. Not only did he teach me a lot, but we’ve also stayed great friends ever since.

What camera do you prefer to use?

I've been a Canon user my whole career and wouldn't change it. Right now, I'm shooting with the mirrorless R6s, and absolutely love the incredible ISO range.

Do you have any favorite wedding venues in Phuket that you love to shoot at?

There are so many magnificent wedding venues in Phuket. I love the ones with amazing views, in particular Villa Aye and COMO Point Yamu.

Can you recall a particularly memorable or special wedding you have photographed?

Every wedding I photograph is special. The most recent one is still vivid in my mind—a breathtaking villa wedding nestled high up in the hills in Koh Samui.

If you could go back to any time in history, what famous wedding would you like to photograph?

Bianca and Mick Jagger – that would have been so much fun to capture!

Lastly, what advice would you give to couples when preparing for their wedding day?

Enjoy every bit of it—it’s your story, after all. No wrong turns, just your unique journey together.
